“I have not witnessed more energy at a country show than this humble man possesses, since I don’t know when, and every time I’ve seen him live he’s left every drop on the stage!” - YOUFOUNDMUSIC.COM (2024)
It seems everywhere you turn, there’s another country band playing covers. And while Michael & the Scoundrels perform covers, they aren’t the only thing that Michael and his band have to offer. Original songs like Scoundrel and The Field have been picked up on streaming platform playlists monthly. His debut album Out Of The Woods came out in October 2023, making it on Saving Country Music’s Most Anticipated Country Albums of Fall 2023 list.
In addition to his live performances, Michael's songwriting prowess has earned him placements on notable TV shows like "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" and various Discovery Channel segments. With an extraordinary ability to connect through heartfelt lyrics, captivating melodies, and a solid beat, Michael continues to enchant audiences with his music. ABOUT
Michael B. Tipton’s greatest secret weapon for energizing live performances is his extensive network of top-tier players and his honed-in frontman skills. Like his idol, Bob Wills, Michael can create a show with top-notch performers to everyone’s benefit. Songs that fall between the swing of Bob Wills and the sting of Sturgill Simpson is where his music lives. Luck’s A Deaf Dog, for example, is rooted deep in Waylon Jennings’ interpretation of country music while Head On is the type of testimonial that only Michael can give. Starting with Michael Tipton & Friends nights at The Pairing in Kansas City, his act solidified over time to include pedal steel guitar and down-and-dirty lead guitar, leading him to open for national acts on large stages and selling out venues like Knuckleheads’ Gospel Lounge.
YouFoundMusic.com says this about Michael’s live performances: “I have not witnessed more energy at a country show than this humble man possesses, since I don’t know when, and every time I’ve seen him live he’s left every drop on the stage! His most recent album "Out Of The Woods" was released in October of this past year, and I’d highly encourage you to check it out in its entirety!”
It all comes down to getting the crowd involved and up out of their seats. “I have no idea what the crowd thinks of my songs unless they dance,” he laughs. “The goal of all my live performances is to touch people’s hearts in a way that their asses follow it to the dancefloor.” He also boasts several covers that span the 1940s-present day traditional country music including country western classics like Walking The Floor, and Stay A Little Longer, Outlaw Country bangers Whiskey River, Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way? and White Line Fever, as well modern revivalist songs Life of Sin (Sturgill Simpson), Diggin’ Holes (Brent Cobb) and Good Lord Lorrie (Turnpike Troubadours).
Michael released an album in October 2023, which was met with numerous playlist adds and local media coverage. The concept album “Out of the Woods” is a country music-backed walk through the darkest moments of life and love, before the dawn and new beginning.
